Introducing BlogHoster

Here’s an amazing opportunity for you from one of our sister companies. One product you may not have come across before is BlogHoster.

This nifty piece of software lets you provide a blog service to others, via your website. The service you can provide your users can be equated to Blogger, Typepad and Livejournal. These social networking / blog sites have the potential to explode a modest blog or blog network. If you have related products and services to promote then your blog hosting service can provide the perfect launching pad.

There’s also the option to have it installed on your server for free.

As the admin of your own blog hosting website you get control over every aspect of your user’s experience from how they sign up, how they write their new blogs and even how they interact with one another within your site. It creates a uniquely encapsulating experience for your users. The most beautiful thing about Bloghoster, however, is that the code is 100% unencrypted. In this bold move, the developers have given you full permission to twiddle, tweak and fiddle with the source code to make your service exactly as you want it. This is a step up from other related software, which typically uses some form of php encryption either server based or license key based to prevent you from really being able to manipulate your purchase.

GUI wise, the front end of Bloghoster is vanilla, letting you dictate your website’s “feel”. The product bundles with some example portals to give you an idea how to go (the code uses a system of Tags to allow the easy placement of key modules such as login and so on). The client forums also have users sharing their own mods, templates and portals.

Along with giving you somewhere to promote your own stuff, the script allows you to place adverts such as google adsense automatically on all the blogs you host.

Your users will benefit from the added features such as interactive profiles, friendships, photo uploads and albums, blog categories and all sorts. You can check out the website for the full feature list. If you buy Bloghoster you will also get free upgrades and the developers are currently releasing updates once per month with new features, bug fixes and general tweaks based on feedback from the client base.

4th July, Video tutorials and more

To those of you who celebrate it, we hope you have been enjoying your 4th July celebrations!

Have you logged into your CPanel lately? Since the upgrades last week we now have new video tutorials which help you learn every aspect of your powerful and easy to use control panel. You now have more control over your website than ever before. The online web tutorial and the video tutorials make a great way to get to grips with things.

Webmail has also been upgraded as part of this and those of you who use webmail will have already noticed the faster, slicker interface and functionality. There’s now no need to log in twice each time and the GUI is in our opinion much more intuitive. You can also control multiple email functionalities right from within the webmail login!

Tip of the day: If you experience email problems using your Outlook Express or Thunderbird or similar email client, you can verify if the problem is on the server or not by using webmail! Just visit www.yourwebsitehere.com/webmail and login using the full email address as the username and the password you set for that email account. Once you log in, click on either “horde” or “squirrel mail” (we recommend squirrel mail) and you will see your emails and can send, reply, edit, delete etc just like in an email client. If you CAN send and receive email using webmail, then it means your problem is probably with your email client or computer and not with the server. Even still- we love to help you out so feel free to submit a helpdesk ticket anyway and we can advise you as best we can.

Have a great week!

The Team

CPanel Upgrades

We have upgraded all servers to the latest CPanel 11, which includes funky more intuitive layouts and a new user help wizard for anyone stuck with how to do certain things in Cpanel.

We’ve also made sure it hasn’t changed so much so as to confuse anyone used to the older system. It still looks and feels the same as before.

Any questions? Don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.

Happy May Day

Even though many of our customers do not celebrate May Day, we know that plenty of you are from countries which do- and regardless of whether you have a day off today or not, we wish you a happy 1st May!

I arrived at the office to find Ian trying to convince us to take the day off- so he is on double-helpdesk shifts for the rest of the week! (just joking Ian!!)

Everyone have a great day and I hope it is sunny and warm where you are.

- Will and the Colorteck Team.

Using our Helpdesk

When using the Colorteck helpdesk please note that sometimes you may not receive email notifications of a technician’s reply to your ticket. This can be thanks to your spam settings. We always advise clients to login regularly to check the status of their ticket on the web.

Simple go to http://colorteck.com/support/ and use your email as your username and whatever password you chose as your password. If you need your password reset, you can use the link. If you dont receive the password reset email, you can try using a different email address, checking your spam folder, or you can contact one of our technicians on the forums at mycolorteck.com.
