WordPress Exploit

Hi,

Our thanks go out to David, an observant Colorteck user who noticed this link today:

http://wordpress.org/development/2007/03/upgrade-212/

We have taken steps to protect any wordpress installations of this version which are on our servers. It is highly advised that you upgrade to the latest version of wordpress 2.1.2, especially if you were using 2.1.1. Version 2.1.1 is the only version which is “dangerous” but older versions of software are also best to upgrade just as a general rule of thumb when the developer has released newer stable versions.

If you have any queries about this just drop us a line.

PHP4 + PHP5 – Both now available across all servers

It’s always difficult trying to decide whether we should make one server a PHP5 environment, or a PHP4 environment. You will always end up making life difficult for someone. Often, hosts will put PHP4 on a server and then add modules to cover for the gaps which PHP5 fills as and when a client needs them.

So, we decided to do something a little different; we now offer PHP4 and PHP5 on all our servers! How does this work?

We have both environments available to “tap into”, so that you as the webmaster can dictate what you use. By default, PHP4 will be used, since the majority of sites work in PHP4. If you need PHP5, you just add two lines of code to your .htaccess files, like this:

AddType application/x-httpd-php5 .php
AddHandler application/x-httpd-php5 .php

Et voila! You are running in PHP5. Life has become that little bit easier for all of us..!

Billing Update

We now believe the issues mention in the previous post regarding our billing software “modernbill” to be resolved. However, if you should notice any error with a new paypal subscription please let us know immediately and do not go ahead and pay it yet. Thank you.

Billing software issue

Hi,

We’re experiencing a problem with our billing software Modernbill. Although state of the art, we are among a group of users who have experienced a similar problem. Some paypal subscription links are being produced with the wrong interval number of months between payments, sometimes too much, sometimes too little.

In order to avoid this potential problem affecting you, please double check the subscription details of any NEW subscription you sign up to. Existing subscriptions will not be affected.

We are working with the developers to have this fixed ASAP.

Thanks!
