Server Upgrades Update

We’ve been working hard behind the scenes on the server upgrades we announced previously.

Here’s an update:

Server 04 has been fully upgraded to a new Dual Core Dual Opteron server platform and is now fully part of our new server fleet. We have renamed svr04 “Kant”, in honour of the influential thinker.

We are now 65% through upgrades to server 06. Some accounts will be transferred onto “Kant” and some will be transferred to the new server “Plato”. Your nameservers will not need to change and there will be no expected downtime as a result of these changes.

Finally, we will move on to the last remaining “old school” server (although, hardly old-school since it is a dual Xeon platform!) which is server 08. Server 08 will be reborn as “Hume” and is also a Dual Core Dual Opteron platform. As part of our upgrades we are offering RAID as standard - this means more comprehensive backups of your data and redundant backups to boot.

We’re sorry if things have seemed a little quiet of late around the Colorteck Blog- we have been putting in the extra hours to get all this done as efficiently and securely as possible.

New Live Chat

Here at Colorteck we have always offered multiple ways to get in touch with our team. Now we’ve made it even easier by offering live web chat- so you don’t even need to install an instant messenger software if you don’t already have one.

As with all our live chat options, we cannot discuss private account details over them. For that sensitive stuff you must always submit a ticket to our helpdesk.

New server, new payment options

The last week or so has been hectic and we appreciate the warm welcome many of you have given us as the new team. We’d also like to extend our mutual thanks to those of you who have been patient with issues that have been inherited.

There is still a question mark over those of you who purchased “lifetime hosting” plans roughly 13 months ago. We have been promising a proper reponse to this issue for a week and I want you to know that we’re doing everything we can to have a satisfactory answer as soon as possible.


New Payment Option: 

We now offer non-paypal credit card payment of your invoices via the client billing area. Many of you were asking if this would be introduced so it was clearly a good option to provide. Simply log in to your billing area and select the CC single or CC payment option.

New Server:

A dual core, dual opteron server has joined Colorteck as the latest expansion to the network. “Plato” has twin 320GB SATA II HDD and is supported by RAID. Truly a beast, we have already had fights between staff as to who gets to put their own websites on it too.
