One of the great things about being a webhost is getting to know about all the great people and businesses who use our services. It is in that spirit that Colorteck will begin featuring sites on our network that we feel proud to host.

The first site that we’ve discovered (and now love) is the rare watch parts company WatchPart.co.uk. Discovering WatchPart was enthralling to us because it epitomizes the great promise of the internet - the ability to start a top notch, one of a kind company and offer a service that people really need. As a huge fan and collector of old watches and clocks, simply browsing through their site makes my heart skip a few beats. You’ll know what I mean if you’re a collector of any kind.

Sometimes a software program will require registered globals turned on. OsCommerce uses registered globals and you will need to add a php.ini file to your folder directory. First you will need to create a file called php.ini. This is very simple to do as you can use any text editor to create the file. Open notepad and add the following at the top of the file
register_globals=on

Now save the file as php.ini and add it to your osCommerce directory. Do not forget to add it to your admin folder as well. Set the permissions on php.ini to 666. Make sure you do this for security reasons. To set the permissions you can login to cPanel and click the file manager icon. Next click the folder name to set permissions. Once you click the folder or file at the top right you will see a permissions links. To do these with ftp just right click on the file that you uploaded and choose properties.

DataCenter

We will be taking down one of our DNS servers and the Colorteck Server on 08/02/06 at 8:00am CST to move the power back over to the remote reboot switch. We will take the system down properly. This maintenance should last about 1 hour. For those of you that have not added the new name servers your web site will go down. Please make sure your name servers for your domains look exactly like this. All four need to be added.

Please be advised there will be no support tickets answered or emails answered for a one hour period.
If you are only using ns3 & ns4 your web site will go down during the repair. If you are using all four name servers you will stay up and running and avoid any issues.

Checking all of our IP’s to see if any of them are listed in any spam database is done weekly so we can keep the emails rolling to where they need to go. I was looking on
www.spamhaus.org and just happen to stop at the top networks that send out spam. I was surprised that some of the top companies are listed. Also they list the top known spammers in the world and it looks like Russia has the trophy for this. Take a look at it as it is interesting.

By the way we finally have the server wide spam protection now installed on SVR04.

We get call after call after call about things like what is the location of sendmail? Where do I install my files? So on and so on. Guys and gals we have made our web site so easy to navigate that even a toddler can find his way around. Sometimes we wonder if spending all this money on our support system and tutorials is actually worth it. WE have made it sooooo easy to find it that the only thing we have not done is just make our front page one big huge support banner.

Every thing you need to know is located in just one area. This would be called our support page. Click on the big support button and your entire question will be answered. We have spent a considerable amount of time adding just about every question you can have and if we have missed one please let us know.

Not only did we do this but we also gave you icons in your control panel to access articles and numerous other areas to help you. You will learn better by reading the information yourself and save valuable support time for people who actually need it. Heck you can even print it out to refer back to. That is a lot better than someone trying to explain to you over the phone where it is located or how to do it. If you have general questions please only use our support resources that we have provided to you. It takes less time to read it than it does to get through to us. We provide daily tips here also and our links to our support resources are located on the right. They are also located on our forums. They are located in your control panel. They are just about everywhere so its hard for us to believe that someone just can not find any of these areas.

Our support ticket system and resources should be always used first. Calling our toll free number is only available during business hours and is used for new sales and billing related issues. There is no reason to ever offer 24/7 phone support as you will always be directed to use the ticket system. Things that are written out are more easier to understand than someone telling you over the phone and you forget the minute you hang up.
